Review: "Lion", by Saroo Brierley

Happy Tuesday! This week, I wanted to do something a little different- a review in a memoir. I loved this heartfelt story and wanted to share my feelings about it! As a young 5-year-old boy, Saroo got lost on a train in India. He eventually lived through life on the streets in Calcutta, and finally found an orphanage, where he was eventually adopted by Australian parents. But he wanted to find his way home. So when Google Maps was created, it was a miracle. That was the tool that helped him find his mother in India. But he knew his family was in Australia. So although he donated money to build his birth mother a home, he went back to his home. That was a basic run-through, but the small details of the story make this a must-read for tweens, teenagers, and adults. It was beautifully written, interesting, and a good length, too. Honestly, there isn't much to say other than the fact that it was amazing. It was empowering, and make you think on a much larger scale. It shows how different the world is in other countries, and you suddenly appreciate what you have more. I really enjoyed this book and it's incredible impact on the reader!

Rating: 9.5/10 - I wish there was more information about his life today! Otherwise, fantastic read.

Age range: 11+ - Very sensitive topic, but not inappropriate.

Would I see the movie? Yes! - I would love to see this in live action.

Overall, would I recommend this? Absolutely!
