Good Afternoon! I recently finished Refugee by Alan Gratz, and I wanted to tell you all what I think about it! This book is about 3 different refugees in different times- 1 in Germany during WW2, 1 in Cuba in 1994, and one in Syria in 2015. It shared their unique stories of refuge and escape. First off, I LOVE the idea of the switching perspectives. It really enhances the cliffhanger factor (is that a thing?). Also, I love to read historical fiction, so this was a great pick for me. I just really respect how much research and time went in to writing this book because it is very accurate. The length was good, and all of the stories connected in the end, which is awesome!! The art in the book was really great also! I really enjoy reading about stories of hardship and bravery like this one, so I loved this book!
Final Thoughts:
Rating: 9/10 - It was a great book, but I wish that it maybe talked about the more serious topics in a more, well, serious manner.
Age Range: 10+ - This covers a pretty depressing and sad topic.
Would I see the future movie? Yes! - super cool stories!
Overall, would I recommend this? Of course!
Thanks for reading this review, and make sure to come back next week for more posts from me, TheBookWorm!
