Half Way Through: "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett

Hello blog-readers! A HUGE apology for the late post... I had some technical difficulties. Anyways... this week I wanted to share some thoughts about the book I am currently making my way through, The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This historical fiction jewel is about the hardship and discrimination that a black woman working as "the help" would face back in the 60's. It talks about the gossip and... well... interesting information that the maids knew about, along with the rude remarks and inhumane treatment they had to muscle through. And it's all in first person and uses the slang that was common in the South during that time period, so it is super realistic. So far, I love the storyline, the characters, and the style of writing that the author uses. Also, I adore the fact that the author makes it seem like the struggles the maids face are normal, which really gives an incredible insight into that time period. So far, I give this book 10/10.
I will make sure to give you all of the details (well, I won't be a spoiler!) when I finish the book, and I hope to see you here next week!
