What Book Made Me a READER?

Hello everyone! This week is CRAZY for me because I am currently in Shrek the Musical and it's performance week, but I still really wanted to blog! So this week I wanted to talk about the book(s) that made me a reader. This idea came from bookishnessandtea.wordpress.com, so make sure to go subscribe to them!

As a loyal Harry Potter fan, I would love to say that those books made me a reader, but when I started reading those I was in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade (yes, they took me 3 years to read), and I had a very hard time reading back then. I wouldn't be able to focus, and I would not understand what I was reading. Sometimes people mention parts of Harry Potter, and I have no idea what they're talking about! I just couldn't take it in as well as I can now, and so I really didn't enjoy reading back then. But whenI read the Divergent Series, it clicked for me. I understood it, so I really liked it. After that, I read like it was my JOB! I flew through books and could tell you every detail of every chapter. I think that was mainly because I was older and understood more, but also because I paid more attention to what I was reading. I didn't just let my eyes glaze over and "read", but I actually READ. I think if you don't like reading, the best thing to do would be to go on a book hunt and find one that you are genuinely interested in. It really helps you love reading more in the long run!

As James Patterson says, "There's no such thing as a kid who loves reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books."
