Review: "Warcross" by Marie Lu

Hello readers! I just finished the awesome novel from Marie Lu called Warcross, and it was really incredible! This book was about a young gamer and hacker named Emika Chen, an orphan and is all out of rent, who hacks herself into one of the Warcross championships. Warcross is a virtual reality video game that has captivated the whole world, along with it's platform, the Neurolink glasses. The creator, Hideo Tanaka, asks Emika to help him find a hacker who is attempting to ruin his company, Henka Games, and offers her 10 million dollars in exchange. When she accepts, she is thrown into a whirlwind of professional teams, championships, attempting to find a hacker, and feelings for people who she did not expect to be interested in. She finds out dark secrets about her boss' past and is shown memories that no one else has access to. But in the end, unexpected twists leave her not knowing who to trust. Left on a cliffhanger, I am SO EXCITED for a sequel! It was such a cool storyline, and definitely a sci-fi book for, well, the books! It was a fast-paced, thrilling page turner that I couldn't stop reading! I really enjoyed everything about it, including the realness of the character and the way she reacts to the insane plot twists being thrown at her. I also love Marie Lu's acknowledgements section, which includes a tribute towards all of the girl gamers out there (that's me)! I totally recommend this book to anyone who's a fan of sci-fi or futuristic stories, and I'm super excited for the sequel, Wildcard, to come out in September! Overall, this book was a winner!

Final Thoughts:

Rating: 10/10 - Great beyond words!

Age Range: 11+ - More for older kids, but not too bad

Would I see the movie! Of course!

Overall, would I recommend this? YES!

Thanks so much for reading this week, and make sure to come back next week to see more book lover's content! Adios amigos!
